“It’s the Irish thing of a bit more craic,” says French-based GAA youth officer Pearse Bell of the rising popularity of the game in Europe.
Dubliner Mr Bell (47) has been working for Gaelic Games Europe for four years in Brittany, identifying new clubs, creating more game time for youngsters and promoting sporting initiatives in schools.
A joiner by trade, he lives in Vannes, in the north-west of Brittany, with his wife Kerri and their three children Tómas, Finn and Oscar.
According to Mr Bell, there has been an explosion in the number of young people playing GAA in Europe, with 100 clubs across mainland Europe. Read more
