‘She just wanted to live her life’ – mother who lost daughter to cancer urges support for Anam Cara

A bereaved mother is encouraging other parents who have lost children to join upcoming remembrance day events to honour their memory.

Michelle Halpin’s 16-year-old daughter Molly died of a rare soft tissue cancer in 2024, devastating her, her husband Austin and Molly’s sibling Eve.

Ms Halpin, from Cabinteely in Dublin, said: “Molly dealt with her illness like she did with everything: without a fuss.

“She never wanted pity; she just wanted to live her life. She loved her friends, her big sister and going out.”

Ms Halpin wants to remind families who have experienced the loss of a child that they do not have to grieve alone.

And is encouraging them to join one of two remembrance events in Westmeath and Kerry, organised by bereavement charity, Anam Cara. READ MORE
